Problem :

I am currently working with arduino nano and facing following error 
avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "\\.\com1": the system cannot find the file specified.

Solution :

This is how I solved the problem i faced in recent past. You will find the Arduino COM port in device manager as shown below:

Now you need to go to the Advance properties of the port

Please set your COM port number to COM1

Then replug the USB.

After all above steps your issue will be resolved.

Problem: Currently I have the Arduino Duemilanove with the ATmega328. Also I am working on Ubuntu 12.04 (to be Precise Pangolin) and my current Arduino IDE's version is 1.0. Recently I have tried to upload some of my sample sketches onto it just like the ... it in my other direction. Now I not facing any problems uploading but still nothing happens afterwards.
