Problem :

I am troubled by following inno setup error
the volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid

Solution :

I guess you are having this issue after you moved the files to a network share. I think you have the open file handle most probably to a temp file you must be creating and after that some other process is trying to rename or dele that file or the parent directory tree.

So try following steps to solve your issue:

  1. Firstly try to install it to a local directory
  2. Now Run an anti-virus scan in safe-mode to check if there are some background nasty changing volume or directory properties while your program is running.
  3. So please make sure that the program itself is not doing anything weird with the volume or directory tree you are working with.
