Solution :

After installing the anaconda you need to create the new environment using the below command :

conda create -n yourenvname python=x.x anaconda

After doing that just activate your environment using below command :

source activate yourenvname

Now you must install the jupyter using below command :

conda install jupyter

Finally run the jupyter using below command :

 jupyter-notebook

OR

I tried the below approach and it simply worked for me:

For Python 2 you need to run the below command :

pip install --upgrade --force-reinstall --no-cache-dir jupyter

For Python 3 you need to run the below command :

pip3 install --upgrade --force-reinstall --no-cache-dir jupyter

Above commands should reinstall everything from PyPi. It should solve your problem as I think running the pip install "ipython[notebook]" messed things up for you.
