Solution :
The error appears to be caused by either the bug or by the memory leak related to your COM+. Restarting your Application Pool or by restarting the IIS will fix your issue. Be informed that it can crop up again out of the blue, so you need to consider restarting your app pool on the scheduled basis.
It is very unlikely that your error is only browser related. It is very much a possibility that the app was working in the Chrome due to the caching. Or maybe the production has the multiple servers, and your Chrome was hitting the good server amongst them, and your IE was hitting the bad sever amongst them.
