Many users encounter this error where they are unable to install an application or run a particular service. This error occurs in various instances and mostly the reason is antivirus software
All the antivirus software monitors your computer at run time and constantly checking for any discrepancies or viruses. If you try to run the applications and antivirus software does not accept the action or recognize it, then it will pop up the error under discussion.
So what this error actually means?
The antivirus software readily copies the name of the application and starts another dummy instance. Because the dummy instance is already running, the application cannot run because of the same name.
In order to make the error go away, disable your antivirus temporarily and see if this fixes the problems at hand.
- Right-click on the Avast icon on your Windows taskbar at the bottom right side of the screen. This will bring up a number of options.
- Click the option “Avast shields control” from the list of options available and select the duration for which you want to disable the antivirus. After the set duration, the antivirus comes back online automatically.
- A windows pop up will ask you to actions. Press “yes” to confirm. Avast will now be disabled and you can continue doing your task at hand.
