A daemon is a program that runs continuously and exists for the purpose of handling periodic service requests that a computer system expects to receive. Using a system you should be able to run a script as a daemon by creating a simple unit. The daemon program forwards the requests to other programs (or processes) as appropriate. Daemon is the Latin word for the Ancient Greek daemon, which originally referred to a lesser deity or guiding spirits such as the daemons of ancient Greek religion and mythology and of later Hellenistic religion and philosophy.
