Problem :

I am very new to Azure. Recently I have started experiencing the error if I try to connect my database which is currently in the VM Role it is the SQL VM Role from the Azure Website. I am experiencing following issue:

SqlException (0x80131904): A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: SSL Provider, error: 0 - The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted.)]

Can someone kindly help me in fixing above error.

Solution :

I have gone through your problem statement and I think you are very inexperienced so you are facing the error. I guess you do not have the CA signed certificate installed on your SQL VM.

And if you already have the Encrypt=True in your connection string in that case you need to set that to off or you can add below line of code in your connection string:

TrustServerCertificate=True

Your SQL Server will automatically create a self-signed certificate if you do not install the signed certificate for it to use but the problem with it is it will not be trusted by your caller as it is not the CA-signed unless you explicitly tell your connection string to trust any of the server cert by default.
