Problem :

Recently I have started learning Homebrew. Now if I try to run Homebrews brew doctor command on my Mac OS X 10.9.2 I have started receiving the below listed warning message:

Warning: Python is installed at /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework
Homebrew only supports building against the System-provided Python or a brewed Python. In particular, Pythons installed to /Library can interfere with other software installs.

So I did some research on it and then I tried to run the brew install and also tried to follow all the steps provided in a installations caveats output for the installation of the Homebrews version for the Python. After running the which python command it confirmed that the Homebrews version of it is without a doubt at a top of my PATH. The Output for your reference is as follows /usr/local/bin/python.

But still if I rerun the brew doctor command I am still facing the same warning message listed above.

Solution :

I had faced the same problem in the past and I know it is very frustrating to deal with such warnings. After doing lot of research I had found out the solution on the warning message.

I am giving my solution for your reference as below:

sudo rm -rf /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework

brew doctor

brew prune

brew update
Above listed combination of commands fixed the issue for me I know this warning message usually will not cause any major issues it was just very frustrating for me to face them again and again under the brew doctor
