Welcome to Kodlogs, programming questions and answer website.

The WordPress site is mostly working without a problem except in the dashboard section of the site where it has some issues with updating or installing. When the user tries to install a theme it will raise an error;

“Installation failed: Download failed. No working transports found.”

This error message usually occurs when some extensions are miss on a development server. Due to this WordPress becomes unable to make external HTTP requests.

The solution is pretty simple. The missing extensions that create the above error are now installed with Wamp Server. By default, they are just disabled. To enable them, the user has to edit the php.ini configuration file.

Editing php.ini file:

The php.ini file contains a list of many extensions with some of them are disabled by default. The only one that the user has to enable was the openssl extension.

Start Wamp Server.

  • Click on the Wamp Server icon and move to the PHP->php.ini option.
  • Double click on php.ini. This will open the php.ini file in your default editor.
  • Search for php_openssl.dll in the php.ini file. You will see that the extension is commented out like;

  • Uncomment the line by removing semicolon.
  • Save the Changes.
  • Restart Wamp Server.

This will solve your problem.
