1. What Is Facebook Advertising?
Here's some info about Facebook Ads:
Ads can appear in News Feed on desktop, News Feed on mobile, and in the right column of Facebook on desktop.
Ad content is sometimes paired with news about social actions that your friends have taken, like liking a Page.
Your friends might see news about the social actions you have taken in Facebook ads. This news will only be shown to your confirmed friends and will adhere to applicable privacy settings you've set for your account. If a photo is used, it's your profile photo and not a photo from your photo albums.
Facebook doesn't sell your info to advertisers.
Facebook actively enforces policies that help protect your experience with third-party apps and ad networks.
2. Understanding What Is Facebook?
Facebook is a social networking website where people socialize with other people and share pictures and videos with them.It allows you to send friend requests to others and accept other people’s friend requests sent to you. Once you both are connected, you can see what each other has to share.
Facebook for business uses a Facebook page rather than a Facebook personal profile. There are few similarities but also many differences in how Fb pages and profiles work. The main similarity is that both let us connect with the people but the major difference lies in how we are connected.
Facebook profile is a two-way relationship. One sends a request, the other accepts it and now both can see each other’s profiles.
On the other hand, in the case of a Facebook page, a fan likes your page (not sends a friend request). Now he can see your page but you can’t. You can say it is a one-way connection.Maybe that’s why it needs extra effort while advertising to attract those people to form this type of connection with your brand.
3. What Is Advertising?
It’s the process of creative communication that makes your customers aware of your product’s unique value. Not just making your products desirable to your audience, advertising also builds a unique connection between those two. And this connection is what is responsible for increasing your sales. This will make sure that your customers never forget about you. Also, it will make them prefer you over others and build their loyalty to you.
4. What is included in your Facebook Ads package?
Some Agencies quote a flat fee, others do a percentage of ad spend, and there may also be a setup fee. If you are spending less that $5-10K per month then typically the quote is a flat fee per month.
Hopefully you will get some type of proposal or quote or at least a list of everything that’s included when you sign up but I’ve heard of people getting charged for extras that they didn’t know weren’t included. Things to think about:
Setup of the Facebook Pixel (if it isn’t set up yet)
Images – how many images are included and how many design changes
Facebook Ads – are they priced individually and does that include the different placements?
Research – some Agencies put this into the setup fee
Ad Cost – typically not included but make sure you know
Reporting – do you get a report and how often
Emails and phone calls – what does communication look like and how many messages/calls are included?
It’s also good to know what happens if you terminate the contract early so watch for that information.
5. Do you run the Facebook Ads on my Ads Account?
I know not all Agencies run Facebook ads on their client’s accounts but I personally think they should. That way the Facebook pixel is tied to your account, the ad history is there, and you can see what is going on. If you have no visibility into actual metrics then it’s hard to tell what’s happening.
Sometimes there are reasons to run ads on a different account but a Business Manager with your own Facebook Ads account is easy to set up.
6. Why Should You Advertise On Facebook?
Let’s start with facts –
Facebook has 2.37 billion users.
Out of this, Over 1.49 billion are daily active users.
Not only this, Facebook adds 500,000 new users every day.
Moreover, 26.3% of the online population is using Facebook.
These numbers tell us about the popularity of this social networking website. An ad there can help us reach those 2.37 billion people.A reach like that is not possible unless and until you are doing a worldwide TV campaign.Having created ads for most of the Fortune 500 companies, this is something I have learned as a Madison Avenue Adman – You go wherever your audience is. Earlier, we were spending a lot of time on TV and TV advertising started booming. Now, we are spending most of our time on Facebook, and with that, the importance of Facebook advertising is rising.
7. Why Do Ads On Facebook Work?
Facebook connects a lot of people from different parts of the world. Many other social media apps also offer a great experience like Facebook in fact some even more.
However, the best thing about Facebook is that it is very easy to operate and everyone is there on Facebook. If you need to target all age groups, Facebook is your best shot.
So, your ads reach the most here. It helps in generating trust between you and your customers which in turn will help in the generation of sales.
8. How Do Facebook Ads Help In Customer Targeting?
Facebook ads use various factors like the location of your audience, customer behavior and preference patterns, demographics, interests, etc. Your ads will be automatically shown to people who have some interest in your brands or who find it relevant.
Moreover, Facebook uses the pixel data, impressions, engagement rate to create a list of people. Facebook can also target people with interest in their competitors’ business.
Similarly, targeting people who have similar interests means new customers from different sectors. Create a source audience of people you know and Facebook will target those with similar interests and show them your ads.
9. Why Should E-Commerce Use More Facebook Ads?
Facebook is a social platform. Here you can build relationships by using brand stories to communicate with your audience. Facebook will help you to find new customers based on your past customers’ characteristics. When you use the Dynamic ads type, this will help in attracting customers to buy your products. Facebook also has a feature of multi-product ads. Here you can show multiple products in a single ad.This helps in showing transparency in your products. Images are the highlight. Show a lot of images in your ads so that people can’t unsee your ads when they scroll through their feed.
10. Red Flags for Facebook Ad Agencies?
These red flags are my own opinions on how to protect yourself against an Agency that may not have your best interests at heart.
Beware of high pressure sales tactics to get you to sign up immediately. There are often limited slots to working with an Agency but if they need you to sign up before you hang up the phone, that feels like a red flag.
Be careful of any agency that requires more than a 3 month contract. There are good reasons to work together longer because you need some time for testing, optimizing, and getting things running well. But you should be able to get a good gauge of how things are working within 3 months. That’s my personal opinion.
Be careful of people who talk down to you and make you feel dumb – ok that’s my personal preference in choosing who to work with. But I’ve heard of people who spew tons of jargon at their clients in attempt to confuse them. Again, an Agency shouldn’t have to train you on all things Facebook but they should be nice.
Hope this post helps you make a good decision on who to hire to run your Facebook ads. I also run Facebook ad campaigns for clients and I specialize in online businesses and launches. I typically only take 5-10 clients at a time because I have a lot going on but I do love Facebook ads. Find out more about my Facebook Ads Services.
11. What Is A Facebook Slideshow Ad?
As the name implies, these ads are made up of many images shown in the form of a slideshow. These ads can be used to share a story.
12. What Is A Facebook Carousel Ad?
These are the Facebook ads that show 3 to 5 images/videos. All these photos and videos have their own headings, short descriptions, and even a call to action.
These ads are horizontally scrollable on desktop and vertically on mobile. You can use these ads to show all the details of a product.
You can also use these when you want to share a product story and it needs at least 3 images to tell that.
